      Hill, James William March 24, 1927—February 22, 2015 Passed away peacefully at home (in his sleep) Sunday February 22, 2015 at the age of 87 years.   Beloved husband of the late Hazel Viola Hill (nee Broadbent). Dear father of James (Doreen), Geraldine (Gary), Brian (late Carol), Susan, John (Marsha), George (Shari) and David (Shari). Loving grandfather of Adam (Sonia), Jennifer (Timm), Dawn (Kirk), Ashley (Jay), Tyler, Kylie, Joe (Kandice), Melissa (Mark), Jason, and Madeleine. Cherished great-grandfather of Derek, Sam, Sutter, Colby and Weston. Dear brother of Joyce (late George) Woodhouse and Olive (Gordon) Rector. James was born in St. Catharines, Ontario and dedicated 24 years of his life to the Canadian Army, being stationed in Korea and Egypt. Upon retiring from the army in 1967 he attended Centennial College in Toronto to add a diesel endorsement to his military qualifications and was hired by the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake as a mechanic where he worked until 1984. He also spent some time in Niagara-on-the-Lake as a fruit farmer. He served as President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 124 and was Master of Niagara Lodge 2 in 1985. An avid outdoorsman with an adventurer’s heart, "Old Jim" enjoyed many a hunt with his son James Jr. and fellow North River Hunt Club buddies, also affectionately called the "Dirty Dozen". A Memorial Service will be held to honour the life of James at the Boyce Funeral Home, Chapel, Visitation and Reception Centre, 138 Daniel Street N., Arnprior Sunday March 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Local family (Ottawa area) will begin to arrive at approximately 12:30 p.m. and will receive friends and family until the time of service.
